WATER
CONNECTS US ALL
When we affect positive change on the habitats that support Olympic Peninsula communities, we have a global impact.
All living species on Earth form communities that are connected inextricably by one ocean.
Feiro Marine Life Center and Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary are joining together to form a Marine Discovery Center on the Port Angeles waterfront. This new facility will educate thousands of visitors and tell our region’s story by tracing waterways from mountains to estuary to deep ocean, revealing the marine life that lives in the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary and the Strait of Juan de Fuca/Salish Sea. This new center will show how water shapes our lives, relationships and history, including its enduring influence on indigenous ways of life. By joining the Field Arts & Events Hall and the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe as a part of the Port Angeles Waterfront Campus, we will contribute to the economic vitality of the region.
Partners are grateful for the participation of several Tribes in this project. The project team traveled to invite participation from each of six Tribal Councils, Lower Elwha Klallam, Jamestown S’Klallam, Makah, Quileute, Hoh and the Quinault Indian Nation. All of the Tribes appointed a representative to contribute their voices, ideas, and expertise to the project and they continue to be actively involved as we aim to break ground in 2026.
